site.btaPresident Radev Mandates There Is Such a People to Form Cabinet, They Return Mandate

April 28 (BTA) - On Wednesday, the second largest
political force in Parliament, There Is Such a People (TISP),
received from President Rumen Radev an exploratory mandate to
form a government headed by former world chess champion
Antoaneta Stefanova.

Stefanova immediately returned the mandate, as previously
announced by the party.

The world chess champion recalled the party's position that TISP
 would not enter into any coalitions with status quo parties and
 that they would keep their promise to refrain from forming
unprincipled coalitions, and therefore returned the
government-forming mandate.

President Radev reiterated that in times of crisis such as the
current one, Bulgaria needs a regular and effective government,
and that is why every mandate is viewed with high hopes.
However, Radev added that he also understands the motives of
TISP, because a sustainable and effective government cannot be
created on the basis of unprincipled agreements and cannot be a
commitment of only one party.

The President said that the Bulgarian people have been waiting
for years for parliament to make concrete decisions to clarify
the election process. No less important is the sustainability of
 social and economic policy in times of crisis, for which some
parliamentary decisions are especially important and must be
taken regardless of the procedure for compiling and electing the
 executive branch, Radev said. He added that a balance must be
sought between the procedure for forming a government, the
legislative activity of Parliament and the important terms and
challenges this country is facing.

''Among all the proposals that are submitted and considered,
Parliament lacks the most important thing - the outgoing
government continues not to submit a proposal to update the
budget and deprives Bulgarian pensioners, citizens and
businesses of support in case the National Assembly is dissolved
 and a caretaker government is appointed,'' said President
