site.btaBulgaria to Help Republic of North Macedonia Combat Fires

August 4 (BTA) - The Bulgarian government plans to send 25 firefighters, three fire engines and two auxiliary vehicles to help extinguish the fires at Kocani and Delcevo, in the Republic of North Macedonia. Prime Minister Stefan Yanev has issued an order to this end, the Government Information Service in Sofia reported on Wednesday.

Talking with his counterpart Zoran Zaev by telephone on Tuesday, Yanev said Bulgaria is ready to assist its neighbour in the firefighting effort.

In an earlier telephone conversation on Monday, Presidents Rumen Radev of Bulgaria and Stevo Pendarovski of the Republic of North Macedonia discussed the fire raging in the remote mountainous area near Kocani. The two presidents considered the possibility of Bulgaria providing machinery to help its neighbour put out the Kocani blaze. RI/VE
