President Radev Visits Elhovo Border Police
to Assess Readiness
for Increased Migration Pressure

Elhovo, Southeastern Bulgaria, August 13 (BTA) - President Rumen Radev visits a Border Police unit near the Lesovo-Hamzabeyli checkpoint on the border with Turkey to check their readiness to handle increased migration pressure. He joins a helicopter patrol round along the border. He points out that sections of the border fence have been compromised and need to be restored and that the monitoring system does not function in some places and needs to be renewed. The President says that migration pressure grows as the Taliban regain control of Afghanistan, and a new migration crisis is looming over Europe.
