site.btaDefence Minister, Gen. Tod Wolters Underscore High Level of Strategic Dialogue in Security and Defence

Sofia, November 18 (BTA) - Caretaker Defence Minister Georgi Panayotov on Thursday conferred with Gen. Tod D. Wolters, Commander, US European Command and NATO's Supreme Allied Commander Europe (SACEUR), the Defence Ministry said.
The two discussed issues related to bilateral cooperation in the area of defence between Bulgaria and the US, the modernization of the Bulgarian armed forces and the security environment in Europe and the region.
The two sides noted the high level of strategic dialogue in the area of security and defence. Minister Panayotov and Gen. Wolters discussed the latest developments with regards to Ukraine, challenges to security in the Black Sea region and in Southern Caucasus and migrant pressure on the Polish border.
Minister Panayotov on behalf of Bulgaria thanked the US government for the support in the process of modernization of the Bulgarian armed forces and the enhancement of their interoperability.
Gen. Wolters is paying a visit to Bulgaria to participate in the annual conference of Central Europe chiefs of defence which is taking place on November 17 and 18. DD/PP
