Thwart Banned Import of Oil Products
from Iran
Haskovo, Southern Bulgaria, October 5 (BTA) - Customs inspectors
at the Kapitan Andreevo border checkpoint (on the border to
Turkey) thwarted attempted illegal import of banned oil products
from Iran, the Svilngerd customs office said.
The inspectors intercepted two trucks with Bulgarian number
plates coming in from Iran carrying nearly 49 t of petroleum
oil.
The documents submitted fro the cargo stated base oil purchased
from the United Arab Emirates. However, the inspectors found
clear proof that the oil products were loaded in Iran.
Suspecting a violation of the requirements for restrictive
measures against Iran, the inspectors took samples from the
carried substance and had them tested. The results showed that
the substance was petroleum oil which is on the EU list of oil
products exported by Iran banned for haulage on EU territory.
The trucks were not allowed on the territory of the European
Community. LY /ZH/
