122 POLITICS - ELECTIONS - GERB - STATEMENT

GERB Is
Ready to Form
Minority Cabinet

Sofia, October 6 (BTA) - Being the largest political force, GERB
is ready to form a minority government, GERB's Roumyana
Buchvarova said on Monday emerging from a meeting of the party's
Executive Commission. GERB polled the highest number of votes
in the Sunday parliamentary elections but does not have enough
majority for an independent government. Buchvarova urged the
parliamentary parties for reasonable support regarding the key
national priorities.

GERB will launch negotiations with the political parties after
the final results of the vote are announced as the political
forces will be invited to talks depending on their performance
at the elections, i.e. the second largest force will be first,
then the third one, etc., although it would be most logical to
start talks first with the Reformist Bloc, which, like GERB, is
also a part of the family of the European People's Party.

The stronger force should make less compromises as it represents
a higher number of people, MEP Tomislav Donchev commented. He
said that he would not run away from the responsibility of
forming a cabinet but added, however, that he would not
participate in the governance at any cost.

GERB Deputy Chair Tsvetan Tsvetanov declared that GERB will not
form a government with the Bulgarian Socialist Party and the
Movement for Rights and Freedoms. /LI/TK/
