Bulgarian Foreign Minister
Meets with Egyptian
Politician Amr Moussa
Cairo, October 12 (BTA) - As part of his participation in a
donor conference for Palestine and the reconstruction of Gaza in
Cairo on Sunday, Bulgarian Foreign Minister Daniel Mitov met
with Egyptian politician and public figure Amr Moussa. They
discussed the latest developments in the region, in particular
the changes in Egypt in the last three years, Mitov's ministry
said in a press release Sunday.
Talking about the causes for the Egyptian Revolution of 2011,
Amr Moussa said that the dynamics of the social and political
life in the country, as well as in the whole region, should be
consistent with the realities of the 21st century. He
underscored that democracy is an unconditional necessity.
Minister Mitov said that Egypt is a country with an important
and leading role in the region and could serve as an example
with its efforts on the road to democratization. He and Amr
Moussa agreed that the challenges before the Mediterranean
region are similar and, in this sense, joint efforts are needed
to overcome them. The problem with the Islamic State
organization was described as one of the most serious
challenges.
At the meeting, the two sides discussed the opportunities for
reviving the peace process in the context of the Gaza
reconstruction initiative. Amr Moussa said that Israel, unlike
other states in the region, is a country with which Egypt does
not have serious problems. The solving of the Palestine
Question, however, remains a critical topic. It was underscored
that reaching a solution based on the two-state principle is
very limited in time and, therefore, the negotiations should be
resumed within the shortest terms possible.
