Three Bulgarian Nominations for European Citizen's Prize of European Parliament

Brussels/Sofia, October 21 (BTA) - Bulgarian MEPs have made
three nominations for this year's edition of the European
Citizen's Prize conferred by the European Parliament (EP), said
sources from EP's Information Bureau in Sofia. The three
nominations will be evaluated and ranked by a national jury and
then advanced ahead in the competition with the candidacies put
forward by all 29 EU Member States.

The three nominations are: Varna's Young Volunteers, nominated
by Momchil Nekov; the Touk-Tam [Here-There] Association,
nominated by Eva Paunova; and Hristo Hristov, nominated by
Andrei Kovachev.

The European Citizen's Prize is intended to be an award for
exceptional achievements in activities or actions by citizens,
groups, associations or organisations having displayed an
outstanding commitment to promoting better mutual understanding
and closer integration between citizens of the Member States, or
to facilitating cross-border or transnational cooperation
within the European Union, including activities or actions by
citizens engaged in long-term, cross-border or transnational
cultural cooperation contributing to the strengthening of a
European spirit.

The national award ceremonies are to take place between November
17 and December 24, while the central award ceremony in
Brussels is scheduled to be held in January/February 2015.
