International Piano Competition
Sofia, October 22 (BTA) - An Albert Roussel International Piano
Competition, tenth running, will take place in Sofia from
October 27 to 30. Selected to participate are thirteen pianists,
laureates in international competitions with a rich concert
activity, from Italy, China, Romania, Russia, Taiwan and
Bulgaria, BTA learned from Prof. Zheni Zaharieva, artistic
director of the competition.
The jury comprises prominent French musicians, such as Schola
Cantorum de Paris Director Michel Denis, orchestra conductor and
France Musique Radio musicologist Alain Paris, Prof. Ivanka
Stoyanova from University of Paris 8, and Prof. Daniela Miteva
from Eastment School of Music in the US.
The international competition will be closed with a gala concert
of the laureates conducted by Alain Paris, with the
participation of the National Academy of Music's Symphonic
Orchestra.
The Albert Roussel International Piano Competition was first
launched twenty years ago by Prof. Germaine Mounier. Until her
passing in 2006, she chaired the Albert Roussel Foundation and
the competition's jury.
The music forum will take place under the patronage of the
culture ministers of Bulgaria and France, and the French
Ambassador to Bulgaria. The entry to the event is free of
charge.
