Norway Invites "Saga of Thracian Kings" Exhibition to Oslo in 2016
Sofia, June 11 (BTA) - Norway has invited the "The Saga of the
Thracian Kings: Archaeological Discoveries in Bulgaria"
exhibition, which has been on show at the Louvre since the
middle of April. The invitation was made by the Norwegian
Ambassador to Bulgaria, Guro Katharina H. Vikor, at a Tuesday
meeting with Minister of Culture Vezhdi Rashidov, his ministry
said.
Vikor said the samples of Thracian art at the Louvre are
fantastic and has leafed through the deluxe catalogue with
enormous interest. She has extended an invitation for the
exhibition to be shown in Oslo from the beginning of March 2016.
Rashidov expressed gratitude for the invitation and noted that
the Bulgarian exhibition has already attracted considerable
interest on the part of the British Museum, as well as in Japan,
Croatia, Turkey, Morocco and Australia.
The sides also discussed the preparation of a conference
organized at the initiative of the Norwegian Institute for
Cultural Heritage Research with the cooperation of UNESCO and
the participation of UNESCO Director General Irina Bokova. The
forum, dedicated to counteracting illegal traffic of cultural
heritage (originating mostly from countries such as Iraq and
Syria), will be opened in Sofia on September 17.
