Prime Minister Borissov to Support Agreement with Poland on  MiG-29 Jet Fighters Repairs

Brussels. June 26 (BTA corr. Nikolay Jeliazkov) - Bulgarian
Prime Minister Boyko Borissov supported Friday the option
whereby Bulgaria and Poland sign an integrovernmental agreement
for the repairs of the twin-engine MiG-29 jet fighters in
service at the Bulgarian Air Force.

Borissov said that if the negotiations are near being finalized,
he would be glad if such an agreement is signed. "We will find
the money because this would immediately enable us to protect
our borders in a very long time horizon ahead," Borissov said.

On Thursday Defence Minister Nikolay Nenchev said that Warsaw is
ready to sign an integrovernmental agreement with Sofia for the
MiG-29 repairs without an intermediary and without a surcharge.
Poland said it will use its own fighters of the same type for
another 15 years.

Borissov said that after 15 years, with the current economic
growth, Bulgaria will be able to buy a brand new squadron.
