In 2008-2014 Bulgaria Saves 6,474 Gwh of Power Annually

Sofia, July 22 (BTA) - The government Wednesday adopted an
annual report vis-a-vis the implementation of the National
Action Plan for Energy Efficiency 2014-2020, the cabinet's
information service said. The report reviews energy efficiency
until 2013. Analysis is made of of the separate economic sectors
to see the changes in key indicators such as energy intensity,
energy consumption, etc.

Conclusions and summaries are made of the fulfilment of the
measures and actions laid down in the National Action Plan,
along with an assessment of the implementation of the national
target for energy savings. The report says that as a result of
the energy-saving measures implemented in the period 2008-2014,
Bulgaria saved 6,474 GWh/r of energy, which is by 1 per cent
more than the target of 5,670 Gwh/r laid down in Directive
2006/32/EC.

The report contains information vis-a-vis the key measures of
legislative and other essence measures implemented in Bulgaria.
An analysis is made of the implementation of the scheme of the
obligations of traders in energy and of the extent of attainment
of the individual targets of energy savings of two other groups
of entities required to do so: owners of buildings with total
floor area of more than 500 sq m and owners of industrial
systems with annual energy consumption exceeding 3,000 MWh.

The attainment of the national target was determined on the
basis of energy savings stated by the relevant entities in the
reports submitted thereby. Proven energy savings are stated in
certificates for energy savings issued by the Executive Director
of the Agency for Sustainable Energy Development.
