Parliament Elects Three National Bank Deputy Governors

Sofia, July 29 (BTA) - Parliament Wednesday elected three deputy governors of the Bulgarian National Bank (BNB) nominated by Governor Dimiter Radev. Dimiter Kostov will head the Banking Supervision Department, Kalin Hristov will head the Issue Department and Nina Stoyanova will be responsible for the Banking department. The deputy governors have a six-year mandate.

A total of 191 MPs participated in the vote of Kostov's nomination, with 122 in favour, 65 against and four abstainees.

Hristov's nomination was voted by 192 MPs, 125 of whom supported it, 58 were against and nine abstained.

Stoyanova's nomination was voted by 193 MPs and was supported by 126, while 61 were against and six abstained.

Presenting the nominations, Radev said all three are experienced and have the will to work in support of the concept for the BNB governance and development. Every one of them is a professional and is very well acquainted with the operation of the central bank.

The new deputy governors took the oath in the plenary hall of the National Assembly.

MPs from the parliamentary groups of the Reformist Bloc and the Patriotic Front left the hall when the oath was being taken.
