site.btaSocialists Approve Government Coalition Agreement, Party Leader Ninova Nominated for Deputy PM and Minister of Economy and Industry

Sofia, December 10 (BTA) - The National Council of the Bulgarian Socialist Party (BSP) Friday approved unanimously an agreement for a government coalition and mandated the party leader, Kornelia Ninova, to sign it. The decisions of the party leadership were announced to the press by BSP deputy leader Atanas Zafirov. The other partners in the coalition will be Continue the Change, which is the largest group in Parliament, There Is Such a People and Democratic Bulgaria.


The Socialists' nominations for the future government are Kornelia Ninova as Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Industry, Ivan Ivanov as Agriculture Minister, Georgi Gyokov as Labour and Social Policy Minister and Hristo Prodanov as Tourism Minister.

BSP is preparing for an extraordinary sitting of Parliament on Monday. "If all partners sign the agreement and the President presents an exploratory mandate for a government [to Continue the Change] during the weekend, I guess we can have a new government on Monday, before the end of the day," said Zafirov.
