Embassies Will Be Closed Only as  Last Resort - Minister

Sofia, November 11 (BTA) - Embassies will be closed only as a
last resort, Foreign Minister Daniel Mitov said at a meeting of
the National Assembly Foreign Affairs Committee, which approved
the 2016 Budget Bill by 11-5 votes and one abstention.

The country's top diplomat gave assurances that, if embassies
have to be closed, this will be discussed within the Committee,
clear criteria will be elaborated and motives for the closure,
provided.

Minister Mitov presented his idea about introducing the status
of the so-called "remote ambassadors", i.e. people, accredited
as ambassadors, who travel to the given country during certain
periods of time. Another possibility is to share premises with
other EU member states at certain places and under certain
circumstances.

He also noted that through its activity the Ministry generates
80 per cent of the budget funds, which it receives.
