FAIRway Danube Project Launched

Rousse, on the Danube, December 15 (BTA) - The Executive Agency for Exploration and Maintenance of the Danube River on Tuesday launched the FAIRway Danube project in Rousse.

Under the EU-backed project Bulgaria will receive two new surveying vessels and ten automatic water level-gauges to ensure safe navigation along the Danube.

Participating in the FAIRway Danube project under the Connecting Europe Facility are Austria, Slovakia, Hungary, Romania and Bulgaria. For fairway rehabilitation and maintenance in the Danube they will tap together nearly 24 million euro, of which Bulgaria will receive over 7 million leva.
