General GovernmentТs Gross External Debt 20% Up from End-2015

Sofia, June 28 (BTA) - The gross external debt amounted to 35,379.1 million euro (76.3 per cent of GDP) at end-April 2016, increasing by 1,288.1 million euro (3.8 per cent) from end-2015 (34,090.9 million euro, 77.2 per cent of GDP), the Bulgarian National Bank said. Year-on-year, the gross external debt dropped by 3,388.4 million euro (8.7 per cent) from April 2015 (38,767.5 million euro, 87.8 per cent of GDP).

The general governmentТs gross external debt totalled 6,720.7 million euro (14.5 per cent of GDP) in end-April 2016. It rose by 1,144.4 million euro (20.5 per cent) from end-2015 (5,576.3 million euro, 12.6 per cent of GDP), mostly due to the nonresident-held securities from BulgariaТs bond issues on international capital markets in March 2016. On a year-on-year basis the general governmentТs debt increased by 500.1 million euro (8 per cent) from April 2015 (6,220.6 million euro, 14.1 per cent of GDP).
