Bulgarian PM, EPP President Discuss Brexit  Aftermath

Brussels, June 28 (BTA) - Bulgarian Prime Minister Boyko Borissov met with European People's Party (EPP) President Joseph Daul Tuesday and the Brexit aftermath was high on the agenda, said the press office of GERB which is the ruling party in Bulgaria and an EPP member.

Borissov reportedly said that now Europe must focus on the important questions about its future and the security of its people. He briefed Daul on the progress of building a fence on the border with Turkey to deter illegal entries.

The Bulgarian Prime Minister once again raised the issue of Bulgaria's desire to join the Schengen area, considering that it has met all requirements and this has been recognized by the European Commission and the European Parliament.

The two sides concurred that Right-wing parties and responsible politicians in Europe now have a responsibility to bring solid arguments against the populist messages of the Euroskeptics. They also agreed that to achieve that, they need to listen to the problems of people they represent.
