Employers Urge Political Forces To Refrain From Populism

Sofia, November 17 (BTA) - The nationally representative employer organizations have called for stability and urge the political forces to refrain to populism. The presidential elections are not parliamentary elections, the organizations said in a statement Wednesday sent out to parties, state institutions and the public.

The employers voiced hope that the consultations between the incumbent and the future president and the parliamentary parties will result in a competent and active caretaker government which will ensure the continuation in the work of the executive branch of government and will manage to hold fair elections in order to uphold Bulgaria's reputation as sustainable democracy.

The presidential elections have prompted the government to resign as well as early elections. The employer organizations hail the intentions of President Rosen Plevneliev to ensure the smooth handover of power to the newly elected president Rumen Radev. "We would like their example to be followed by the political parties which should show sober and mature conduct and ensure a normal transitioning," the business said.

The business circles welcome a timely referral to the Constitutional Court by the President which should clarify fully the technical aspects of a government change at the end of the presidential term and the calling of early elections.

The business urged the administration to continue work and preserve the tentative economic growth through stable business conditions and stability in the government.
