Sofia, August 19 (BTA) - Sofia police officers have conducted a scheduled specialized operation for preventing and countering illegal migration, the Interior Ministry reported in a Friday press release. A total of three persons without IDs have been detained.
Police checks were carried out across hostels and other accommodation establishments. Such specialized operations will continue and will be held systematically in order to exercise prevention and control over the residing of foreign nationals on Sofia's territory, the Interior Ministry said.
Meanwhile, a few groups, consisting of 42 illegal migrants, have been caught by the Bulgarian border protection authorities in the past days and returned back to Turkey's border region of Kirklareli, where Turkish Gendarmerie officers have detained them, journalist Nahide Deniz told BTA from Istanbul.
