Sofia, October 31 (BTA) - No substantial constructive damage was found that could jeopardize dam walls following the heavy rainfall last week which claimed three lives and caused extensive flooding in part of Bourgas Region, on the Black Sea, a check has found out. A total of 46 dams on the territory of Bourgas Region were checked in October 27-29 by the Directorate General in Charge of Dams with the State Agency for Metrological and Technical Supervision.

The check thus confirmed an initial hypothesis that the flooding was caused by the heavy rainfall, and not by outflow of water from nearby dams.

The inspectors issued prescriptions to the owners of the dams to undertake measures to have the affected facilities repaired.
