site.bta44th National Assembly Reports 72 Laws Passed Since Beginning of Mandate

Sofia, December 22 (BTA) - From the beginning of its mandate the 44th National Assembly has passed 72 laws, 181 decisions and two declarations, the parliamentary information service said.

From April 19 to December 21, 2017, 164 bills were submitted to Parliament, including 91 by MPs. Tabled draft decisions numbered 170, including 153 by MPs.

From the beginning of its mandate, Parliament has held 92 meetings in plenary, including three extraordinary ones. Control functions were exercised over nearly 89 hours and discussions of 10 questions of MPs and four hearings were held.

During its second session, the 44th National Assembly passed 54 laws and 72 decisions, and had 46 regular and three extraordinary meetings. Between September 1 and December 21, 2017, 90 bills were tabled in Parliament, including 41 by MPs. Fifty-two draft decisions were also submitted, including 47 by MPs, as well as one draft address and declaration.Question Time was held at 15 meetings in plenary. A total of 434 questions and 20 inquiries were submitted to the National Assembly from September 1 to December 21, 2017, and there were four discussions on inquiries over the period.

Members of the government have answered 381 questions and 15 enquiries, most of which (65) by the Minister of Regional Development and Urban Planning Nikolai Nankov, followed by Education and Science Minister Krassimir Vulchev (40), Agriculture, Food and Forest Minister Roumen Porozhanov (38), Environment and Water Minister Neno Dimov (33), Finance Minister Vladislav Goranov (30), Interior Minister Valentin Radev (27), Labour and Social Policy Minister Bisser Petkov (27), Deputy Prime Minister responsible for public order and security and Defence Minister Krassimir Karakachanov (22) and Culture Minister Boil Panov (19).

Most of the questions and enquiries came from MPs Georgi Gyokov (37), Georgi Svilenski (26), Svetla Buchvarova (24), Dimiter Danchev (20), Nikolai Tsonkov (19), Miglena Aleksandrova (17), Georgi Stoilov (17), Kristina Sidorova (15), Stoyan Mirchev (14), Ivan Ivanov (12) and another three MPs with ten questions each.

Most of the questions and enquiries were submitted by the parliamentary group of the Bulgarian Socialist Party for Bulgaria (343 questions and 17 enquiries). The United Patriots have submitted 50 questions, GERB - 24 questions and two enquiries, and the Movement for Rights and Freedoms - 13 questions. Volya has submitted seven questions and one enquiry.
