Sofia, December 22 (BTA) - Movement for Rights and Freedoms (MRF) Honorary Chair Ahmed Dogan delivered a speech before the MRF elite on December 21, 2017. He commented on the motion for a no-confidence vote in the Government which the Bulgarian Socialist Party (BSP) is planning to submit in January. Dogan said: "As far as I understand, this no-confidence vote does not seek to topple the Government but only to correct it and encourage positive activities. All right, this act can be interpreted as a routine democratic procedure. However, what would we do, if it succeeds? Is there a party ready to govern the country after possible early elections? In my discretion there is no opposition political force able to assume responsibility for the country's governance at present."

Dogan warned against the risk of entering the dangerous spiral of early elections. Therefore, it s a duty of the civil society and all political forces to guarantee the country's security and stability, he observed.

"Boyko Borissov asked Dogan for help and received it but the non-confidence vote will be moved," BSP leader Kornelia Ninova says quoted by her party's press centre.

According to Ninova, Borissov is concerned with the tension in the country, the no-confidence vote over the corruption issues and the lack of coordination with the United Patriots and asked Dogan for help. The implication of Dogan's statement is that the presence of the United Patriots in the governance is a mistake and if Borissov ousts them, the MRF will support him, the BSP leader notes. That is to say, there is no need of new elections but of replacement of the smaller partner in the governing coalition with another one, she adds.

The fact that the MRF Honorary Leader, Ahmed Dogan, declares that the incumbent Government has no alternative shows that within that party which is our most severe critic there are clever people with right judgement, Defence Minister Krassimir Karakachanov said.

The truth is that the Government has no alternative and this is not only because of the Presidency of the EU Council next year, he noted.

There is no way for the United Patriots to coalesce with the MRF within this term. This is not considered either within the United Patriots nor jointly with GERB. If someone wants to coalesce with the MRF, the Constitution allows it and it is a matter of free will, Karakachanov added.
