Rousse, on the Danube, January 28 (BTA) - Addressing mayors and municipal councillors of Rousse Region on Sunday, Parliament Chairperson Tsveta Karayancheva said politicians should be united and work together in the interest of all Bulgarians, during the Bulgarian EU Council Presidency.

"What could advertise Bulgaria better than its EU Presidency?" asked Karayancheva, saying that more than 1,200 senior officials of the EU Member States would visit this country for various Presidency-related events.

She also stressed the importance of the work done by the parliamentary committees where major problems are solved. For instance, more than 50 acts of Parliament were amended to grant electronic access to the citizens' criminal record certificates.

Later on Sunday, Karayancheva will deliver a speech at a formal event marking the 140th anniversary of the liberation of the northeastern town of Razgrad from Ottoman rule. She will lay flowers at the Mausoleum of the fallen Russian soldiers and Bulgarian volunteers.
