Sofia, May 4 (BTA) - Prime Minister Boyko Borissov and Internal Market, Industry, Entrepreneurship and SMEs Commissioner Elzbieta Bienkowska discussed matters related to the consolidation of the common market, digital infrastructure and the innovation potential of European economy, the Government information service said Friday. It was underscored that this process is key to increase competitiveness of member states and improving the business environment.

They also noted the work done by the Bulgarian government to achieve progress on the open files in the field of economy.

Bienkowska expressed satisfaction with Bulgaria's active policy related to transport and digital connectivity in the Western Balkans. Borissov expressed gratitude for the excellent cooperation with the Commission on this priority and said it will provide added value for the region and the entire EU. He pointed out that he sees the commitment of all leaders and institutions with whom he has discussed the opportunities for project implementation. In his words, this gives him more reason to think that the interest of European institutions and countries in the Western Balkans will continue after the end of the Bulgarian Presidency of the Council of the EU.

Borissov and Bienkowska also commented on the opportunities provided by the Multiannual Financial Framework 2014-2020 proposed by the Commission. Borissov pointed out that Bulgaria will do its best during its presidency to bring the positions of member states related to the Union's priority policies and the distribution of funds for them, the press release said.
