Plovdiv, South Bulgaria, May 30 (BTA) - The international defence equipment exhibition "Hemus 2018" once again shows that the Bulgarian defence industry is not only a high-tech sector offering products with high added value, but also also a competitive sector on a global scale, said here Wednesday President Rumen Radev during the exhibition opening.

Cooperation between the business, education and science sectors is a sure guarantee for Bulgaria's efforts to fully participate in the European Defence Fund, and the integration of European defence industry and science, Radev noted. He voiced hope that Bulgarian companies will participate more actively in the modernization of the Bulgarian Armed Forces.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence Krassimir Karakachanov also addressed the participants in "Hemus 2018". The exhibition's 13th edition happens at a symbolic time for Bulgarian defence. He recalled that the projects for modernizing the Bulgarian Army and Air Force have already been put to the vote, while the one for the Navy is expected to be ready within a couple of weeks.

Seventeen different countries with 69 exhibitors, 48 of which are Bulgarian, are participating in the "Hemus 2018" exhibition.
