Sofia, May 30 (BTA) - Bulgaria's Parliament Wednesday voted, 80-3 with 23 abstentions, to pass amendments to the Ministry of Interior Act on first reading.

The idea of the revisions, moved by United Patriots MPs, was to standardize the rules for reappointment from one security or public order service to another in cases where the appointee has received tuition and, upon his or her admission to an educational establishment, has signed a contract undertaking to serve at the Interior Ministry for a specified period of time. Where attendees of the Ministry of Interior Academy and interns at the vocational training centres with the Academy, who work under a civil-service relationship at their own option, terminate their civil-service relationship and within three months are appointed as civil servants at security and public order services, they would not be liable to refund the tuition and maintenance costs and such costs would not be refunded by the appointing party, either.

Identical amendments are proposed for the State Agency for National Security Act and the National Service for Protection Act.
