The hackathon of the Bulgarian News Agency (BTA) at Ruse University was won by students with a project for developing a mobile application called Eco city mobile. The competition was organized within the framework of BTA's Europe on Balkans: Cohesion Skills project.
The hackathon was opened by Ruse University Rector Desislava Atanasova, who thanked BTA for the partnership.
During the competition, 40 students were divided into four teams and had to work on projects regarding Smart Mobility. They had to develop an innovative and ecological solution that would reduce vehicle traffic on the streets and harmful emissions in the air.
The jury consisted of Ruse Chamber of Commerce and Industry Executive Director Milen Dobrev, Bozhidar Yankov, Secretary General of the Ruse Research and Maintenance Executive Agency, and Iliana Georgieva, Head of the Projects Department at BTA.
Georgieva noted that BTA has been implementing a project with the support of the European Commission for the third consecutive year to promote cohesion policy. "This year, our focus is on the knowledge necessary for the new reality offered by digitalization and the green transition. At Ruse University, we focused on the topic of Intelligent Mobility, as the city predisposes to its development, as well as the traditions that the university has in this area," she pointed out.
