A truck with Turkish registration, transporting lemons, caught flames at the Kapitan Andreevo border checkpoint, the Regional Office for Fire Safety and Protection of the Population in Svilengrad told BTA on Friday.

The incident happened on Friday morning, when the truck was in the control zone for refrigerated trucks entering from Turkiye. The driver of the truck stated that the fire started from an oil stove in the driver's cabin and that he was slightly injured and bruised when he tried to leave the driver's cabin.

Three fire brigade teams extinguished the vehicle. They noted that complications arose because of a fuel leak from the tug's tank, which holds a ton and a half of oil.

The truck will be towed and returned to Turkiye.
