site.btaTurkish Investments in Bulgaria Worth Nearly EUR 2 Billion, Says Consul General in Burgas

Ruse Regional Governor Dragomir Draganov and Consul General of Turkyie in Burgas Tolga Orkun held a meeting in the seaside city on Wednesday dedicated to the 101st anniversary of the establishment of the Republic of Turkyie.

The possibilities of expanding cooperation in the fields of economy, education and culture between regions of the two countries were discussed during the meeting. The talks highlighted that trade exchange between the two countries is constantly increasing, with Turkyie being among Bulgaria's leading commercial and economic partners outside the European Union and Turkish companies being among the largest investors in Bulgaria. 

"Ruse Region provides excellent opportunities for doing business, as companies have security," Draganov told the Turkish diplomat. The regional governor also pointed out that the region has excellently trained experts who are a prerequisite for the success of any company. He noted that the interaction between state and municipal institutions is also at a very high level in order to reduce the administrative burden for investors. "Turkish companies are successfully implementing innovative solutions that have an additional positive effect on the Bulgarian economy," Draganov said. 

Orkun cited statistics, which show that Turkish investments in Bulgaria are worth about EUR 2 billion, with nearly 15,000 people employed in Turkish companies. Trade in goods also shows constant growth, he said, adding that in the period January - August 2024, export from Bulgaria to Turkiye amounted to BGN 3,714 million, while import amounted to BGN 6,137 million. Orkun also promised to visit Ruse Region by the end of November.

On October 29, 1923, the founder of the Turkish Republic and the first president of Turkiye, Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, officially declared the country a republic. From 1925, October 29 is being celebrated as a national holiday of Turkiye.
