Glavinitsa Mayor Nejdet Cevdet on Monday signed a contract with an investor, who will build a photovoltaic power plant in the village of Chernogor. The contract includes the establishment of a construction right for a period of 30 years, said the local administration.
The photovoltaic power plant will be constructed on municipal land, and estimates are that the revenues for the next 30 years will exceed BGN 4.5 million. The initial payment of the investment will be to the amount of BGN 100,000, while in the following years the investor will pay about 50% of the electricity consumed by the municipality. This will include the energy consumption of the administrative buildings, home social patronage, kindergartens, town halls and street lighting in all 23 villages of the municipality.
The administration in Glavinitsa stated that a large part of the granted land has been uncultivable and that no income has ever been received from it, while the income from the rest of the land amounted to about BGN 9,000 per year. If their current way of management is maintained, the rental income of those lands would amount to about BGN 270,000 in the next 30 years, the administration added.
Glavinitsa Municipality also said that they are working towards the construction of their own photovoltaic installations, which will further reduce the costs of supplied electricity. Two projects worth BGN 2 million have already been approved.
