А new central bus station in Varna is due to open in late May. The building will have a distinctive design that ensures easy navigation, quick access, security and safety, said Wednesday architects Martin Hristov and Galina Baleva who have designed the building. 

The future central bus station will have a doctor's office, a room for mothers with children and luggage storage space. There will be a shopping center and a cafe, which will have independent access.

The building's architects are part of the local architectural studio E–Arch which was founded in 2001 and has already won numerous national and international awards.

They have designed the bus station to be bright and comfortable, without dark and hidden spaces, as the station is also used at night. The roof allows for integration of solar panels, Hristov said. He also said that the new building has the same capacity as the old one, but with a much larger outdoor waiting area at the expense of the indoor space.

The bus station has been privately owned for many years and the owner can only build on his own land and with his own funding, the architect said.

Hristov stated that Varna should not be left with only one central bus station and pointed out the benefits if the Municipality build one more bus station next to the central railway station in the city for easy transfers between bus and train.
