Ongoing initiatives and upcoming projects supported by Bulgaria’s Foreign Ministry were key topics at a working meeting between the Chairperson of Moldova's Taraclia District, Lazar Dermenji, and Ivan Pavlov, Director of the Eastern Europe and Asia Department at Bulgaria’s Foreign Ministry, the Taraclia District Council said on Thursday.

Special attention was given to the construction of the Park of Peace in northern Taraclia, with Pavlov reaffirming Bulgaria’s readiness to support the district’s participation in this cross-border project. The discussion also covered opportunities to attract European investments for Taraclia’s development.

The meeting addressed the activities of Taraclia State University, which recently became a branch of Ruse University. In 2025, the institution introduced three new degree programmes, expanding opportunities for students to earn a European diploma. Plans are also in place to renovate the university dormitory, which will accommodate students and faculty for the upcoming academic year.

Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to continuing cooperation for the development of Taraclia District.

During his working visit to Bulgaria, Dermenji also conferred with Bulgarian President Rumen Radev, the Executive Director of the Executive Agency for Bulgarians Abroad, Rayna Mandzhukova, a representative of the Bulgarian Memory Foundation led by Milen Vrabevski, Deputy Culture Minister Georgi Sultanov, and representatives of the Bulgarian Red Cross.
