Day of Bulgarian poet and revolutionary Hristo Botev and those fallen for Bulgaria’s liberation, June 2, was marked in the Japanese city of Okayama, the Bulgarian Embassy in Tokyo told BTA.

Petar Nikolaev, First Secretary at the Bulgarian Embassy, Okayama City Deputy Mayor Masahiro Takenaka and representatives of the Okayama-Plovdiv Exchange Association, laid flowers at Botev’s monument in Okayama. In 2022, Botev’s bust was donated to the Japanese city by the Bulgarian city of Plovdiv on the 50th anniversary of the twinning between the two cities.

On the occasion of the Day of Botev, in Okayama was also put on display a photo-exhibition presenting the cultural exchange and partnerships between the two cities in recent years.
