An exhibition of Roman mosaics of the 1st to the 6th century AD, discovered in the Bulgarian land, will open at the Bulgaria Gallery (60, Via di Monte Brianzo) of the Bulgarian Cultural Institute in Rome at 6 p.m. local time on January 20, the institute says on its Facebook page. The exhibition will be on until January 28.

The event will highlight a unique heritage showing that the Bulgarians are an ancient people with a rich history, the message says.

The curator is Katya Badinska-Lekova. She graduated from the University of Chemical Technology and Metallurgy in Sofia in 1965. She became doctor of chemistry in 1972 and an associate professor in 1985. Between 1996 and 2016, she taught at the Department of Chemistry at the South-West University in Blagoevgrad. Badinska has authored scientific articles and reports and holds patents. She has taken an active part in scientific conferences in Bulgaria and abroad. She is a member of the Union of Scientists in Bulgaria.

Badinska has engaged in painting since the 1970s. Her first exhibition was held in Sofia in 1981. She uses oil paint, pastels, and most recently, acrylic colours on glass. Works by her are in private collections in Bulgaria, Germany and the United States, according to information in Badinska's Facebook profile.
