site.btaBulgaria and Belgium to Share Role of Local EU Presidency Holder in Chicago

Bulgaria will assist Belgium as holder of the local Presidency of the EU Council in Chicago in the next six months, the Bulgarian Consul General in the US city, Svetoslav Stankov, wrote in his Facebook profile.

"I want to thank my colleague, Mr Paul M. Van Haltteren, Honorary Consul of the Kingdom of Belgium, with whom we will work together for a united European community in Chicago and a more visible European Union," Stankov said.

The motto of the Belgian Presidency of the EU Council is "Protect, Strengthen, Prepare". Its six priorities are: defending rule of law, democracy, and unity; strengthening competitiveness; pursuing a green and just transition; reinforcing the social and health agenda; protecting people and borders; and promoting a global Europe.

Stankov said: "The team of our Consulate General in Chicago, including myself, look forward to working together with the Honorary Consulate of Belgium. I wish a successful Presidency!"
