Just days before the shortlist for the Academy Awards was announced, the nominations for The Satellite Awards were also announced. These are annual awards of the International Press Academy and are presented for outstanding achievement in film, television and new media. The winners will be announced on February 18 in Los Angeles.

Blaga's Lessons is listed in the International Film nomination, which includes seven titles in total. The other contenders are Fallen Leaves (Finland), Anatomy of a Fall (France), lo Capitano (Italy), Society of the Snow (Spain), The Teacher's Lounge (Germany) and The Zone of Interest (UK).

"This is a huge international recognition for us," commented the film’s director Stephan Komandarev.
