Vazrazhdane top-of-the-list candidate in Burgas Tsoncho Ganev met with residents of the seaside city as part of the party's election campaign on Thursday. Amongst the most asked questions were the danger of escalation in the military conflicts in Ukraine and the Middle East and the involvement of Bulgaria in those wars, said the party.
Ganev stressed that the first steps to be taken after the elections is to take measures to avoid being dragged into war, because there is nothing worse.
Ganev argued that the first decision of the next Council of Ministers should be to remove the NATO command centre in Varna, as it could turn the country into a target if the military conflict in Ukraine escalates. He noted that the existence of four American military bases in Bulgaria contributes to the risk, and that the party has insisted in several consecutive parliaments that measures be taken to get rid of them.
Ganev added that only Vazrazhdane insists on measures to guarantee peace in Bulgaria, which is why the party has organized a national initiative called Give Peace a Chance. It will be held on October 21 in a number of Bulgarian cities, including Burgas.
