Education remains a leading priority for GERB - UDF, because it is a major factor for economic development and a way to overcome the "middle-income trap", Krassimir Valchev, who is second in the list of candidates for deputies from GERB - UDF in Stara Zagora region, said during a campaign meeting on Tuesday.

For this purpose, the government will rely on technology and industries. The education system will be modernized. Children will be prepared for the era of artificial intelligence - of effective interaction between algorithms and humans, which implies more skill in digital creativity, with a solid foundation in the humanities. There will also be a move towards personalized education, meaning that every student will have a so-called "digital backpack" on which they will receive personalized lessons tailored by teachers.

Valchev noted the transition from rote to functional knowledge is imperative. "In this regard, we are obliged to provide free time for both teachers and students to form skills, consolidate knowledge and practice. This will happen with a change in the curriculum and the way assessment is done. Teachers' salaries should be at least 125% of the national average, university lecturers' salaries will be increased and every child will be effectively included in the education system" Valchev said.

"Everything achieved during the GERB government is due to the responsibility of the ministers and mostly thanks to the fact that we had a prime minister who knows what he is doing. The only recipe for forming a responsible government is with the leadership of GERB" Valchev concluded.
