Bulgaria's Prime Minister Rosen Zhelyazkov talked with King Charles III during a royal reception marking the Berlin Process Summit 2025 in London, the Council of Ministers said in a Facebook post on Wednesday.
During their conversation, Zhelyazkov shared his impressions of one of the memorable visits of the then Prince of Wales to Bulgaria, the statement said. The Bulgarian Prime Minister extended an invitation to King Charles to visit Bulgaria again, as a gesture to further strengthen bilateral relations and the friendship between Bulgaria and the United Kingdom.
On Wednesday, Zhelyazkov took part in the 11th edition of the Berlin Process Summit. The high-level forum brings together leaders from the Western Balkans, EU Member States, and international partners of the initiative, as well as representatives of international financial institutions.
The Prince of Wales has paid two official visits to Bulgaria. His first visit took place in November 1998, at the invitation of President Petar Stoyanov (1997-2002), as part of a tour of four Balkan countries: Slovenia, Romania, Bulgaria and the then Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia. On his second visit, in March 2003, at the invitation of President Georgi Parvanov (2002-2012), he travelled to the Black Sea city of Varna, where he visited the Gavroche Children’s Centre and Karin Dom, a non-profit organization supported by a British foundation.
