site.btaForeign Ministers of Bulgaria, Qatar Discuss Enriching Cooperation in Areas of Mutual Interest

Foreign Minister Georg Georgiev held a meeting with the State Minister for Foreign Affairs of the State of Qatar, Sultan bin Saad bin Sultan Al Muraikhi, during the 80th session of the UN General Assembly in New York. Georgiev noted, as quoted by his Ministry, that Bulgaria would like to enrich its cooperation with Qatar in all areas of mutual interest.  

Among the priority sectors, Georgiev highlighted energy, defence industry, economy, information and communication technologies, education, agriculture, infrastructure, culture, and tourism.

On the occasion of the 35th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries, Georgiev expressed his confidence that the anniversary is an important opportunity to strengthen bilateral political dialogue and deepen the partnership.

The Bulgarian Foreign Minister expressed his gratitude for the active involvement of Qatar, and in particular the Emir of Qatar, in the case of the crew of the hijacked Galaxy Leader ship, including two Bulgarian citizens, as well as in relation to the two Bulgarian hostages held by Hamas.

Minister Georgiev praised Qatar's role as a key mediator and supporter of diplomatic initiatives in the Middle East, emphasizing the importance of the country's ongoing efforts to promote peace and stability in the region.
