site.btaBulgaria to Join EU's Decisions on Termination of Contracts for Use, Transit of Russian Gas - PM Zhelyazkov

As part of the European Union, Bulgaria will join the EU's decisions to terminate in the short term - in 2026 - contracts for the use or transit of Russian natural gas, Prime Minister Rosen Zhelyazkov said here on Tuesday, as quoted by the Council of Ministers. “Since the derogation we insisted on so much was dropped, Russian oil is no longer being processed at the local Neftochim refinery,” Zhelyazkov said.
“We have already made contacts for October and November, and under very good conditions, for liquefied natural gas from the US, and our market has all the necessary natural gas at competitive prices,” the Prime Minister added.
Zhelyazkov was in New York to take part in the landmark 80th session of the UN General Assembly.
