President Rumen Radev Thursday awarded the Bulgarian national under-19 women’s volleyball team with the Presidential Honorary Plaque for their outstanding contribution to Bulgarian sport and their recent triumph at the FIVB U19 Women’s World Volleyball Championship.

“Today the world belongs to you, and you are already role models for thousands of Bulgarian children,” President Radev told the team during the official ceremony.

Radev added that the Bulgarian girls team will receive every needed support for achieving their Olympic title ambition. “I am confident that you are also a catalyst for thousands of Bulgarian parents to dream and seek opportunities for their children’s success on the volleyball court, rather than on social media,” the President said further, expressing his belief in the bright future of Bulgarian volleyball.

“It is a great honour and responsibility for us to represent the Bulgarian flag, and we are happy that we succeeded in doing it in the best possible way,” team captain Viktoria Ninova responded on behalf of the players.

Bulgaria won the 2025 FIVB Volleyball Girls’ U19 World Championship after defeating the defending champions, the USA, by 3-1 (21:25, 25:16, 25:17, 29:27) in the final at the Gradski Vrt Hall in Osijek, Croatia, on Sunday.

The team’s setter, Dimana Ivanova, was named Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the World Championship.
