One person was killed and at least three others injured in a large-scale Russian drone attack on the Ukrainian Black Sea port city of Odesa overnight, according to regional governor Oleh Kiper. The announcement was made via the Telegram messaging app.
More than 20 Russian drones targeted Odesa from multiple directions, reported Mayor Gennadiy Trukhanov.
"The attack caused damage to civilian infrastructure. A multi-story residential building caught fire, and firefighters rescued people trapped inside," Trukhanov said. "All emergency services are operating in emergency mode."
Residents from destroyed apartments have been temporarily sheltered in a nearby kindergarten building, local authorities said.
Emergency crews, city district administrators, and Red Cross volunteers are actively responding at the site. A field operations center has been set up in the affected area.
