Bulgarian athlete Bozhidar Saraboyukov won silver in the long jump event of the European Athletics U23 Championships here on Friday.

The Bulgarian recorded a personal best of the season and the second best of his career, jumping 8.21 metres on his third attempt. He was leading the provisional standings until the fifth attempt when Erwan Konate jumped 8.25 metres, which earned him the gold. The bronze went to Finland's Kasperi Vehmaa who jumped 7.97 metres.

Saraboyukov, who will turn 21 on August 6, became European long jump champion with a mark of 8.13 metres at the European Athletics Indoor Championships in Apeldoorn, the Netherlands, on March 7.
