Bulgaria’s top-ranked men’s singles player, Grigor Dimitrov, began his Wimbledon campaign in the best possible way on Tuesday, securing a straight-sets victory over Japan’s Yoshihito Nishioka in the opening round of the Grand Slam tournament. Seeded No. 19, the Haskovo-born Dimitrov won 6–2, 6–3, 6–4 in a match lasting 1 hour and 39 minutes.

This marks Dimitrov’s fourth win in as many matches against the 29-year-old Nishioka, currently ranked No. 82 in the world, without dropping a set.

In the second round, Dimitrov will face world No. 69 Corentin Moutet of France.
