Bulgarian competitor Albert Popov took 17th place in the first run of the slalom of the FIS Alpine Skiing World Cup in the Austrian winter resort of Kitzbuhel.
With starting number 14, Popov had a good ride and crossed the track in 52.59 seconds. The race was held in very difficult conditions, constant rain and an icy track. The top 30 continue in the second part of the race.
Timon Haugan (Norway) with 51.29 seconds was in the lead, followed by second by Steven Amiez (France) and Brazilian Lucas Pinheiro Braathen.
A total of 21 competitors were eliminated, including three-time World Cup small slalom champion Henrik Kristoffersen (Norway).
The second run will start at 2:30 pm Bulgarian time.
