Bulgaria will host Modern Pentathlon World Cup events in 2025 and 2026, said Thursday the President of the Bulgarian Modern Pentathlon Federation (BMPF), Andrey Kuzmanov. BMPF has organized competitions of this rank in Sofia in the previous two seasons, and it has invariably been on the circuit's programme since its first edition in 2022.

Kuzmanov is satisfied with the development of this sport in Bulgaria.

Modern pentathlon is one of the toughest Olympic disciplines, including fencing, riding, swimming, running and shooting.

The BMPF President also noted the expectations for Bulgaria's upcoming participation in the Olympic Games in Paris 2024, for which Bulgarian pentathlete Todor Mihalev has won a berth.

"All five disciplines must be completed in 90 minutes, which is a gladiatorial battle. For us, things move very dynamically. The components that bring the most points are swimming and the so-called combined discipline, running and shooting. History shows that people who have done well in fencing and decently in riding but perfectly in the other disciplines become Olympic champions," Kuzmanov added.
