Bulgaria's highest ranked tennis player Grigor Dimitrov qualified for the semifinals of the ATP 250 tournament in Brisbane, Australia on Friday. Playing as the second seed in the event, Dimitrov won 6-1 6-4 over Australian Rinky Hijikata to reach the final four.

The Bulgarian did not lose a game on his serve and finished the match with 11 aces. 

In the next round Dimitrov will face Australian Jordan Thompson - the two will meet in a quarterfinal match later on Friday.

The Bulgarian has played two matches against Thompson in his career. Thompson won their first meeting in 2019 at the Miami Masters, while Dimitrov was victorious in their second at the Indian Wells Masters in 2022.

That will be the fifth Brisbane semifinal in Dimitrov's career. He won the event in 2017.
