site.btaSports Minister Iliev Discusses Real Madrid Foundation's Activities in Bulgaria with Spanish Team Legend Emilio Butragueño

Bulgarian Youth and Sports Minister Dimitar Iliev conferred with Real Madrid legend Emilio Butragueño, who led a visiting delegation of the Real Madrid Foundation, the Sports Ministry said in a press release here on Wednesday. Iliev and Butragueño discussed the Foundation’s activities in Bulgaria and future plans for their development in this country.

In 2016, a sports school of the foundation was opened in Vidin, Northwestern Bulgaria, whose main goal is to integrate underprivileged children and create conditions for their better future through football. Butragueño stressed that the Real Madrid Foundation plans to open a second school in Bulgaria, a one to be located near Sofia. A charity auction with exclusive Real Madrid items was organized to support the future development of the school in Vidin and the activities of the Foundation, the Ministry also said.

Iliev said that he highly appreciates the initiatives that the Foundation develops not only in Bulgaria, but all over the world. Sport is a very powerful social weapon and plays a key role in building personal qualities and values, the minister added.
